The Training subcommittee (Gab, Will, Rose and Guin) and Racing subcommittee (Will, Alex Hailstone and Vida) combined forces!
At the first meeting there were so many great ideas and initiatives raised – initiatives will be prioritised for those which relate to the feedback received from the member survey.
Action items:
– Final amendments are being made to a Member Guide (aimed at new members) and Ride Leader Guide which will be published shortly
– Work is underway to recruit more ride leaders and ride captains so additional rides and training sessions can be offered.
– Planning is underway for the Bright Training Camp in November, and we will release details of proposed ride options (including major climbs, endurance/rolling hills and recovery/rail trail rides) in the coming weeks. (If you haven’t booked – book now as there are limited rooms left!)
– SKCC Kit Library – the concept of SKCC holding a range of kit that could be offered to new members to borrow until they buy kit of their own has been raised regularly. We thought in the spirit of recycling it could be a great opportunity for members who have excessive kit to donate so we can introduce our Kit Library. If you would like to donate any kit please reach out to one of the subcommittee so we can organise to collect. We would love for our new members to look the part and be able to attend a wider range of rides.
– Hawthorn Cycling Club (HCC) crits are nearly upon us, kicking off Wednesday 4th October. We are organising a south side meeting point to ride over and support our members who are racing. There will be an option to go for dinner post crits at a local pub and then ride back to St Kilda as a group. Once details are finalised, we will upload onto Teamapp.
– Around the Bay – Sunday 8th October
It’s not too late to join! So many ride options from 50km – 300km.
SKCC will have Ride Ambassadors on every ride length so come and join them.

– Great Vic Bike Ride (GVBR) is heading to Gippsland this year for some amazing rolling hills along the coastline. The GVBR is an amazing experience and has been referred to as a travelling music festival on wheels! There are a number of SKCC members who are attending for the full or part (3 or 5 day options). The full GVBR runs from 25th November to 3rd December. SKCC is hosting a training ride on Sunday 29th October. The Bright Training Camp in November will also be a great training opportunity for the GVBR.
