With the weatherman forecasting a superb sunny winter’s day, the annual SKCC Trophy race is set to kick off at the Lancefield Footy Oval at 10am tomorrow morning.
A maximum field of 170 riders over 7 grades will contest the trophy haul this year, early predictions are that a total of less than a dozen B & D Grade riders from various clubs have missed a start due to the fields filling to capacity.
The SKCC Trophy Race also hosts Race 3 of the Northern Combine Women’s Points Series. This year the series is co-sponsored by Hawthorn and St Kilda Cycling Clubs with points down to 5th place earned by Women’s A&B Grades. There is also a Women’s C Grade for novice riders.
Our friends at Rapha, Andy Pike & Sarah Bowman, have generously donated musettes filled with water bottles and garment wash for 2nd & 3rd placegetters in the three women’s Grades and a musette with a bakpocket and a race diary for the winner of each women’s Grade. Thank you Rapha for supporting women’s cycling and the Women’s Points Series !
But that’s not all ! SKCC member and Masterchef Carrie Lim, will be donning the apron and tongs to put on a BBQ feast, we’re told her honey soy chicken tenderloins and salmon patties are the best !
Note to riders: The race finish line has been moved to the Rochford KOM, not McMasters Lane as it has been in prior races. When you go over the finish line…KEEP MOVING, claims will be back at the Lancefield Footy Ground in the SKCC tent.
Note to spectators: There is limited parking at the Rochford KOM, so park well away from the KOM and go for a little walk…….it’s going to be a beautiful day for a meander.
