Recently and very sadly SKCC and the greater cycling community lost one of the most positive, friendly, encouraging and all round gentlemen anyone could ever hope to meet. Peter lost his fight to cancer but his impact on many people especially those at the St Kilda Cycling Club will never be lost.

Thanks to Jeff Provan and NeoMetro, the Sprint King event will be run to include this inaugural memorial event to honour Peter and his memory.

Therefore this Sunday will include the inaugural Peter Bolton Sprint Memorial. As many know Peter was a very cagey and clever sprinter so it’s quite fitting that the memorial in his memory is a Sprint Points event.

How does it work ?

• Regular prize money for podium placing is on offer
• The normal race schedule applies for all grades, including those not included in the Sprint King and Queen competition
• but riders in Men’s A/B/C and Women’s A/B will also earn points for the first three places across the line during intermediate sprints and the final sprint for the line.
• Accumulated points will determine who will be the Sprint King or Queen in Men’s A, B and C, and in Women’s A and B Grades.
• Intermediate sprints and prize money will be as follows for the various grades:
  Men’s A Grade: 3 sprints + final. Sprint King winner $150
  Men’s B Grade: 2 sprints + final. Sprint King winner $100
  Men’s C Grade: 2 sprints + final. Sprint King winner $75
  Women’s A Grade: 2 sprints + final. Sprint Queen winner $150
  Women’s B Grade: 2 sprints + final. Sprint Queen winner $100

The winner of the final sprint in Men’s A (ie: line honours) will have their name engraved on the Inaugural Peter Bolton Memorial Shield.
Peter’s family will be in attendance to present the shield.
