On a very chilly (sub zero!) Sunday morning some members of the 2014 SKCC Women’s Development Squad headed up to Newham to ride around and check out the Newham circuit. This recce was done a week ahead of the 4th and final race in the women’s series which is incorporated into the Northern Combine Winter Road Race Calendar.
With the clear blue skies, quiet roads and plenty of wildlife, it was an idyllic ride and a day when you could easily stay out on your bike all day! If you forgot how cold it was, you could almost (but not quite!) imagine you were riding through fields of sunflowers in Europe. We even passed by some horses being ridden along of the main streets of Lancefield; not something you see on Beach Road!
Each year, SKCC runs a women’s development squad to give ladies the chance to learn and try road racing over the winter season along with other ladies new to racing in our Club. If you would like more information please contact either Alison Raaymakers (0407 424 851) or Lisa Byrne (0409 230 812).
Don’t forget that this Saturday (9th August) is the SKCC Trophy Race which is will be raced on the Newham circuit and incorporates the 4th and final race in the women’s series.
