Keat joined SKCC around the end of 2014 after signing up to do a sprint distance triathlon having not ever ridden a road bike! A colleague of Keat’s was a member of SKCC and suggested he join the club to get some experience and to learn how to properly ride on the road.
While the whole triathlon thing never quite took off, Keat fell very much in love with cycling and everything associated with it. He started (literally!) from scratch, attending Alison’s rides on Friday. He then slowly progressed on to (at the time) Annie’s recovery Monday rides then onto Tearaway Tuesdays with Leann. While his time on the bike now fluctuates slightly due to a myriad of reasons, it’s something that well and truly integrated into his life.
Outside of cycling, Keat is a medical scientist working on heart research, runs from time to time, does lots of yoga, and happily admits he is a little bit of a fanboy when it comes to all things Star Wars.
If you had a time machine & you could go back 10 years what advice would you give your younger self?
Enjoy life a little more! Don’t stress too much over the little details; things have a knack of working themselves out, especially if you pursue or want them enough.
If there was a movie made about your life, who would play you?
Someone once said I look like an Asian Channing Tatum. I assume that’s a compliment, so I’ll choose him!
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?
Time manipulation, aka Dr. Strange with the Time Stone.
Who or what motivates you?
Always aiming to be better (or rather unrealistically, the best) at whatever I do, essentially is what motivates me.
