SKCC’ers!

It’s that time of the year again – St Kilda Cycling Club’s Annual General Meeting!!

What: SKCC AGM
When: 7.30pm, Wednesday October 23, 2024
Where: Virtual
Details to follow.

We are pleased to announce the 2024 Annual General Meeting of the St Kilda Cycling Club Incorporated will be held at 7.30pm on Wednesday October 23, 2024.

The meeting will be held virtually, and details will be provided ahead of the meeting. The Order of Business will be provided on Wednesday October 2 via email.

Though the Committee is required to give 21 days’ notice under sect 36(a) (i) of the current Rules, we believe this AGM requires much more notice so that members can:

(i) review and provide feedback by September 15, 2024 on the proposed new club Constitution (attached), which requires a special resolution at the AGM for adoption

(ii) nominate for the 2024-25 Board (see nomination form attached) before September 23, 2024

(iii) propose any other items of business under sect 16(a)(ii) in writing to the Secretary on or before October 1, 2024

As previously advised via email, the club’s current rules of association date to September 2018. Much has changed since that time, in particular the formation of AusCycling and different governance expectations. It’s time to ensure our rules reflect best practice for not-for-profit community organisations, and bring SKCC into closer alignment with other clubs.

The committee has prepared the attached draft constitution for member feedback. Please email any comments to info@skcc.com.au by September 15.Note that this version has already taken in some feedback from members as noted in the attached document VARIATIONS UPDATED

  • It is based on a template constitution developed by AusCycling for use by affiliated cycling clubs.
  • VARIATIONS UPDATED lists a small number of clauses that either required SKCC to make a determination (for example, on quorums) or where the committee wishes to reflect current practice or include relevant legacy clauses.
  • Adoption of this constitution will require a special resolution to be moved at the next annual general meeting. It will require not less than 75 per cent of members in attendance to vote in favour of the resolution.

We look forward to your comments and encourage all members to consider nominating as a Director or contributing through a Committee.
