In what is to be a first, Cycling Victoria, St Kilda Cycling Club and Geelong Cycling Club are pleased to announce a major partnership with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation that sees the venue for the 2016 Victorian Criterium Championships move from Geelong’s Criterium Circuit to the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit on Sunday, March 6th.
This event will feature the use of the entire Albert Park circuit with fully closed roads. While not a traditional Criterium course it provides a unique opportunity to showcase an important State Championship event. SKCC is thrilled to be involved in making cycling history.
There will be racing for all age categories from J11 right through to M9 for Men and Women rounded out with Elite Men and Elite Women. It will be an action packed morning in a stunning location and is sure to sell out.
Bring your friends, family and picnic rug ! The spectating promises to be as special as the racing !
Special thanks to Andrew Westacott, CEO of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, a keen cyclist, who pulled out all the stops to assist CV and SKCC in securing the venue.
And our thanks also go to Geelong Cycling Club, the current hosts of the State Championships, for working with all parties to ensure that this opportunity could be taken advantage of.
(NB: There will be no graded racing on the day as championship events are age based)
Don’t miss out on this historic occasion, get your entry in now ! Field sizes are strictly limited.
