It’s been an incredible TDF season full of shocks and surprises, excruciating stages and stunning victories. This year Vincenzo Nibali won the race for his team Astana with a lead of 7min 52sec. The Italian rider maintained his lead for 18 days out of the total 21 day race. Jean-Christophe Péraud and Thibaut Pinot followed him onto the podium to take second and third places respectively. The 21st stage win went to Marcel Kittel following a final sprint to the finish line in Paris.
A huge thank you to everyone that came along to TDF night!! Some hungry SKCC peeps arrived early to take full advantage of the delicious menu at the Grosvenor. The night kicked off with a warm welcome by SKCC’s Marketing Director Tom Reynolds who handed the mike over to Shannon Johnson and Morgan Smith of Charter Mason for a few words. The guys transitioned with ease from pro cyclist to male model and were looking very snazzy in CMRT sportswear (of course we have enquired how to get our hands on these items and yes they are available to purchase!!). SKCC President Lee “Hollywood” Turner introduced the new committee and then it was onwards and upwards to quizzes and prizes galore!! Bicycle Network entries from around the bay, Skoda for the weekend, Skoda Musettes filled with goodies, PhysioHealth massages, Palais Theatre Tickets, Sufferfest videos and some very cool Slim Leather Wallets by Bellroy!! It felt like no one went home empty handed, certainly fair to say not many went home sober!! All good things must come to an end and when last drinks were called the till was closed and SKCC TDF night was over for 2014.
Thank you to all those who helped pull the fantastic evening together!
